Zohran Mamdani has managed to develop a style of campaigning that doesn’t require him to deny any of his past or any aspect of his identity, renounce any of his past positions (although there have been modifications), or otherwise transform himself for political ends. Attempts to vilify him as being a socialist seem, so far, not to be noticeably effective. How is this possible? What is it about him? About the times? About the current state of our politics?
